I’m teaming up with @slowpokefoodproject to bring you a fun, messy, finger-licking menu that blends Slowpoke’s BBQ mastery with bold Mexican flavors. Stay tuned for the full menu reveal—it’s going to be epic!

🗓 Date: Saturday, November 9th
📍 Location: Paradise Grapevine, 841 Bloor St. W., Toronto
⏰ Time: 3PM - 8PM

Here’s what we’ll be serving:

Tortas Gemma

Originating in Guadalajara, this sandwich is a showcase for a rich tomato and chipotle-based sauce, the recipe for which has been handed down from Mariel’s Abuela. Two versions will be available:

1) Smoked Carnitas!
- pork shoulder that’s smoked and then braised in lard, cola, orange juice & spices.

2) Hongos!
- marinated and smoked shiitakes & portobellos

The tortas come with escabeche (pickled jalapeños, onions & carrots) and are then drowned in the signature sauce and topped with from-scratch Mexican crema. Do not sleep on these tortas!

Dorilocos

A street snack, this version will start with nacho cheese Doritos that then get topped with a dizzying number of toppings: smoked pineapple, grilled nopales (prickly pear cactus paddles!), cacahuates japoneses (crispy peanuts!), Mariel’s chamoy and chile powder, my salsa puya, carrots, cucumbers, lime, chives and crema. Phew!

Horchata Panna Cotta

Topped w/ a polvorones crumble, cajeta drizzle & toasted piloncillo syrup pepitas.

Don’t miss out on this chance to dive into the colors and tastes of Mexico. Bring your friends, your appetite, and a love for great company.

See you there! 💀✨
